So, any guesses here? Well, if you are thinking that it is a game involving streamed roulette dealers, then you are certainly wrong. Read further to know which card game has topped our list.
1. Rummy
Also known as “paplu” in India, Rummy is one of the most commonly played online card games in India. In fact, its popularity has grown exponentially. Basically, rummy is a set of matching-card games whose main goal is to create “melds.”
Melds include sets, which are 3 or 4 of a kind of the same rank or runs. Rummy is an umbrella term. So, this means that there are different variations of rummy and not just one.
The basic rummy version is also known as sai rummy whereas another type of rummy is sanka rummy. But the one that is common in India is Indian rummy.
In fact, Rummy has been so popular that it has even been featured in many Indian movies like Montu Ni Bittu. The game is highly entertaining and very easy to play. Interestingly, there are even mega tournaments that involve different rummy players competing with each other.
2. Teen Patti
Teen Patti is a Hindi word, which in English means Three Cards. After rummy, this is another card game that is highly played. It is inspired by 3-card brag, a popular British card game, which is pretty much to poker.
That’s why Teen Patti is nicknamed as the Indian Poker. Like Rummy, even Teen Patti has featured in many local movies. Surprisingly, there is even a Bollywood film titled Teen Patti.
3. Teen Do Paanch (3 2 5)
Again, “Teen Do Paanch” is a Hindi word, which are none other than numbers. In English, it means 3 2 5. Interestingly, this card game makes use of only 30 cards and is played between 3 players.
So, the cards kept in the game include:
- 7 of hearts – Ace of hearts
- 7 of spades – Ace of spades
- 8 of diamonds – Ace of diamonds
- 8 of clubs – Ace of clubs
This game is similar to bridge, but the only difference is that rather than 4, there are 3 players playing individually. One of the players should make 5 hands in total whereas another player should form 3 hands and finally, the dealer (winner of the former hand) needs to form just 2 hands. Players making more than the required share of hands are winners.
