Careers of all descriptions are now demanding that candidates possess technical skills of a certain level. In days gone by, it may have just been roles that were centered around IT, but nowadays, there are all sorts of careers that require you to boost your technical abilities. Here are just a few of the examples of careers that need technical skills.
Designer
Designers come in a couple of different forms. Obviously, there are web designers, which are more in demand than ever with so many businesses requiring an online presence of one kind or another. Web designers possess various levels of technical skill. These days, there are plenty of platforms that make web design much more straightforward.
Alternatively, you can go down the more complicated path and seek out Microsoft certifications. The other main type of designer that requires technical skills is a graphic designer. In order to pursue this particular career path, you will need to master some essential technical programs such as Photoshop or InDesign.
Customer Support Representative
There has been a huge spike in demand for customer support representatives over recent years. A big part of the reason for this is that more and more customers are getting in contact with businesses to enquire about purchases or services. This is largely down to how many different methods of contact there are out there such as instant messaging and social media. A lot of customer service jobs will require some level of technical skill, and this is particularly the case if you need to provide technical support to consumers.
Marketing Assistant
Another career path that has exploded in popularity is the world of marketing. Again, this is largely down to how many opportunities are out there these days. Since so much marketing activity is done in a digital capacity these days, it makes sense that you are going to need to have good technical skills. These abilities can come in handy in everything from creating infographics to digesting and making sense of the huge range of data that you are confronted with.
Writer
While you wouldn’t necessarily think of writing as a job that requires a lot of technical ability, this is entirely different in the modern world. A lot of writers are expected to create online content these days and may be asked to upload it themselves. Not only this, but writers often have to create content with a search engine optimization angle in mind.
These are just four examples of jobs that require technical skills. Once upon a time, some of them would have needed very little in the way of technological ability, but the world has changed in a big way over the past 20 years or so. So, if you are hoping to go down one of these career paths, it is important that you take the time to boost your technical abilities in any way that you can, whether this is through solo study or a structured course.
