Smartphones that support such networks are the next big trend and the race is on to see who will bring out the first 5G complaint device. Plenty of smartphone OEMs have been talking about their plans to do that. Here are some of those phones that will be, or already have been launched in India.

OnePlus had made an impact with the launch of the OnePlus 7 Pro, the company’s most premium and up to date phone yet. Apparently, they have a 5G version of the same phone and this will be launched in the UK along with the EE telecom giant, the company that will start 5G connectivity in 2019. OnePlus hasn’t mentioned the price of this phone as yet and we aren’t sure if any modifications have been made to it.
In terms of specifications, the device has a 6.67 inch Fluid AMOLED screen and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It will run the Android 9 Pie, powered by the Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon. This processor seems to be a popular choice of hardware in the 5G phones. Here too, you have the motorized 16 MP camera, the 48 MP back cameras. Huawei Mate X
Huawei is the biggest name when it comes to 5G technology and already has lots of chips, hardware meant for use with 5G. They already have a phone out, called the Huawei Mate X and will even be released in India by the 2019 December. Of course, the phone would be useless without the 5G network, so Huawei will be tying up with Airtel to carry out 5G trials.
It is one of those much talked about foldable devices and claims to be the fastest 5G phone yet. Huawei created the Balong 5000 the world’s first 7nm multi-mode 5G chipset for the device. In fact, multi-mode means that it will be able to support 2G, 3G, 4G, AND 5G. So this way one doesn’t have to use a separate device just for 5G. The device also has 4 antennas fitted inside for use with 5G networks.
Oppo Reno 5G
The Oppo Reno flagship isn’t new, but the company has created a 5G variant for the China market. Pretty soon it will be launched in certain European countries. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor and an X50 5G modem by the same OEM. The big highlight is the triple camera unit with exceptional 10X zoom. The front camera is housed in a movable panel.
Price wise, most 5G phones will fall within the 30,000 to 60,000 price brackets, excluding the folding phones as that technology is new. The Oppo Reno 5G is no different and will start at Rs. 39,999. In spite of this, the device is being marketed as a phone with good cameras with a powerful zoom, enhanced night mode.
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
This is the first 5G offering from this company and also features the Snapdragon X50 5G modem too. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G is essential a copy of the premium flagship the company launched earlier in China, the only difference is in the battery and the Snapdragon 855 processor. They even carried out a video call using 5G, the first of its kind.
The rest of the specifications are the same though. The 6.39 inch OLED screen achieved by putting the front camera in a slider, Google Assistant button, dual 12 MP rear cameras. Most 5G phones will have hefty price tags, but the Mi Mix 3 will start at 599 euros and is aimed at being the lowest rate yet. They launched it in May 2019, and didn’t mention the markets it will be sold in. The dual front cameras are both installed on a full slider, giving you 93.4% screen ratio!
So, the devices are rolling out and ready for markets and have all the hardware necessary for connecting up with 5G networks. Here in India, one can buy the phones, but will have to wait till telecomm companies have a formidable 5G network! Still, there’s no harm in checking out the phones, using them with 4G and waiting patiently!
